This is something I’ve been asking myself since I had the courage to submit my World Race application. It was both nerve racking and exhilarating at the same time. I’ve been thinking and praying about doing the race over the last few years and God has given me the opportunity to make this dream a reality August 2016!!
What is the World Race?? Here is the run down:
-Traveling to 11 countries in 11 months (Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Ghana, India, Nepal, Thailand, and Cambodia)
-Working with different ministries in each country and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ
-All while living out of a backpack
This short and sweet video does a fab job at explaining it better than I can 🙂
The funny thing is that I never thought this would be me. As a little girl, I remember listening to missionaries talk at my church. Even as a 5 or 6 year old I had my mind made up that I would never be a missionary. Why would I want to leave my comfortable life and go to some unsanitary country with limited food, running water and proper bathrooms?! Uhhh no, I’m good.
BUT God has a sense of humor and this just goes to show how He can change hearts and minds.
The truth is, I’m crazy in love with my savior Jesus Christ and because of that, He calls me to do some crazy things. In this case, it’s trekking across the globe with the bare minimum of items to bring the gospel to places that have never even head the name Jesus (this still blows my mind!).
Yes, it will be thrilling. BUT it will also be extremely uncomfortable, disheartening and just plain hard. And let’s be honest, the longest mission trip I’ve ever been on was a week in Haiti.
Everything I have ever known will be stripped from my grasp and I will be forced to rely on the only thing that is constant in this world, Jesus Christ. Even as I type this I know I can’t fathom what I will see or experience but the Lord does and that is all that matters.
“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13
